The corollary to "Key Worker" (note the "Worker") is "Unworthy Poor." This translates as "You Are Of No Apparent Use To Me".

Let's give these authoritarian motherfuckers the benefit of the doubt: let's imagine that they are interested in addressing poverty, or "inequality of opportunity" as they like to put it. Whose version of a polity are they promoting?

"She also wants to explore how to encourage shared equity schemes as a way of helping those in social housing to find a way into home ownership. "

Ah yes, the paradise of owner/occupation. A gibbet and an Ikea on every street corner. Responsible consumption. Affordable minimalism, hard work, storage space, public execution, law'n'order etc.

Calasso on Marx and the Lumpen: "The working class needed holy image: the Cause would stand as guarantor of proper feeling, of ordered and hardworking lives devoted primarily to self-denial, in preparation for the struggles and conflicts with the Enemy."
"Ruin of Kasch" Roberto Calasso

"(Marx found it) much more important...to ally oneself with the process of capital in its murderous hostility to the unproductive powers, who nevertheless embody the immeasurable: sacrament, pleasure, sovereignty...Whether the Lumpen then present themselves as paupers, dandies or poets makes little difference. They are, in any case, beings without dignity (if anything, they have majesty). What deprives them of dignity (for example the dignity of labour#) is precisely their contact with something extrasocial and self-sufficient...pleasure, the invisible, the gratuitiousness of art. (The writer belongs to the Lumpen as soon as he speaks of...art for art's sake. It is his insolent retort, in a cracked falsetto, to the power that has stripped him of his authority. Since he no longer has a function and has been banished from court, he spurns every function.)"
"Ruin of Kasch" Roberto Calasso

Yes, Flint: one bites the hand that used to feed; but one bites the hand that throws grudging morsels even more.
